Who we are

Register Your Business ("we", "us", "our") is a business registration and compliance service in Nigeria. We help businesses register with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), complete related compliance filings, and build the branding and websites that go with them.

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our services or this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).

Information we collect

To file a registration on your behalf, the government agencies involved require personal information. We only ask for what a filing actually needs.

Information you give us

• Identity information: your full name, date of birth, gender, nationality, National Identification Number (NIN), and a copy of a valid means of identification (NIN slip, international passport, driver's licence or voter's card).
• Photographs and signatures: passport photograph and specimen signature, where the filing requires them.
• Contact information: phone number, WhatsApp number, email address and residential or business address.
• Business information: proposed business names, nature of business, business address, share structure, and details of directors, shareholders, partners, proprietors or trustees.
• Payment information: the name on the payment, the amount, the date and the transaction reference. We do not collect or store your card details, bank login details, PIN or OTP, and we will never ask you for them.
• Messages: the content of your WhatsApp chats, emails and calls with us, including documents you send to us.

Information collected automatically

• Website logs: our website host records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request and the date and time. This is used to keep the site running securely.
• Cookies and similar technologies: this website uses no cookies that are necessary for it to work. Where we run advertising or analytics tools (for example the Meta, TikTok or Google tags we use to measure how our adverts perform), they are loaded only after you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you decline, nothing is loaded and you are not tracked. Your choice is stored in your own browser, and you can change it at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing your browser data. When no such tool is switched on, the banner does not appear, because there is nothing to consent to.

If you contact us on behalf of someone else — for example a co-director or business partner — please make sure they know you are giving us their information and that they agree to it.

Why we use your information, and our lawful basis

Under the NDPA we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. Ours are:

• To perform our contract with you: preparing and submitting your CAC, tax, SCUML or trademark filings, delivering your certificates, building your logo or website where you have ordered one, and supporting you throughout.
• To comply with legal obligations: statutory filing requirements, know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering checks, tax obligations, and responding to lawful requests from regulators or law enforcement.
• For our legitimate interests: keeping records of work done, preventing fraud and misuse of our services, improving how we work, and defending legal claims — balanced against your rights.
• With your consent: where you agree, for example if you allow us to publish your certificate or website in our "Proof of Work" gallery, or to send you marketing messages. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Our gallery: we only publish a client's certificate or website after that client has given permission, and we redact registration numbers, addresses, signatures and identification details unless the client has specifically agreed otherwise.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where it is needed to deliver what you asked for, or where the law requires it:

• Government agencies and registries: the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) for tax identification, the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML), and the trademarks registry — as required for your filing.
• Our design and web team: where your package includes branding, a website, a business email or hosting.
• Service providers: our website host, email provider, document storage and payment processors, who handle information on our instructions.
• Professional advisers: accountants, lawyers or trademark agents where a filing or a dispute requires it.
• Authorities: where we are legally required to disclose information, or to establish or defend legal claims.

Transfers outside Nigeria: some of our providers (for example website hosting and email) store data on servers outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected to a standard consistent with the NDPA.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including limiting access to the people who need it to do the work, using password-protected accounts and reputable service providers, and not asking for or storing card, PIN or OTP details.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please send documents only through the channels we agree with you, and be aware that messages sent over WhatsApp, email or social media travel through systems we do not control. If we become aware of a breach that is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the NDPA requires.

How long we keep it

We keep the records of a filing for as long as we need them to provide the service and to meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations — normally at least six years after the work is completed, and longer where a law, a regulator or an ongoing dispute requires it.

Where information is no longer needed, we delete it or remove the details that identify you. Certificates and filings held by government registries are governed by those registries' own rules, not by this policy.

Your rights

Under the NDPA you have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
• have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
• ask us to delete information where there is no lawful reason for us to keep it;
• ask us to restrict how we use your information, or object to us using it for our legitimate interests;
• receive information you gave us in a portable format, where technically possible;
• withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on your consent;
• lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

To exercise any of these rights, message us on WhatsApp or email us. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within the time the NDPA allows. Please note that we may be unable to delete information that we are legally required to keep, or that has already been filed with a government registry.

Children

Our services are for people aged 18 and over, and we do not knowingly collect information from children except where a filing requires details of a minor (for example as a shareholder or beneficiary) and a parent or guardian has provided them. If you believe a child's information has been given to us in error, contact us and we will address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services, our providers or the law change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will tell you directly where we reasonably can.
